Radiography Unit Digital radiographs are the most common examination performed in our department. A small column of radiation passes through the body and strikes the digital sensor on the other side. As with digital photography, the image can be adjusted. The radiologist can magnify, rotate, lighten/darken, or measure on a workstation to better answer the clinical question. Radiographs of the chest, abdomen, spine, sinuses and extremities are the most common tests performed. What to expect: At least two images are taken; additional images may be needed to answer the clinical question. You may be asked to wait, if your physician has requested that the result be called to their office prior to your departure from the center. Preparation: There is no special preparation. You may need to change into a gown upon arrival. Typically, these studies require 5 to 15 minutes. Radiographs are offered on a walk-in basis, with no appointment necessary. If you are pregnant, you will need to notify the technologist.
